What is the difference between a "music group" and a "band"?

Top Comment: Those aren't at terms with strictly defined definitions, and I'm skeptical you'd be able to find somebody who would argue to the contrary. I'd say "band" implies instruments though. People don't call Boyz II Men a "band". But "music group" doesn't have that implication either way. People call Slayer a "band", but also (likely to a much lesser extent) a "music group" as well.

Is it getting harder to start a band?

Main Post:

I’ve been playing in bands for about 20 years and I’ve noticed ever since the Covid pandemic it seems to be harder and harder to find people who are serious about playing music.

Is this the same for everyone else? Are people just not wanting to be in bands anymore?

Also where is a good place to find musicians these days? I’ve tried posting stuff on facebook but don’t seem to get many responses.

Top Comment: Finding someone who has music in top 3 priorities and isnt a complete dickhead is really hard. People simple don’t care as much overall. It takes A LOT to make it, and being a band with slackers is waste of time

Best American rock band of all time

Main Post:

This is obviously a subjective post. As post suggest “all time” so feel free to go back to to the 50’s and please consider that bands from this millennium may not hold up in a couple decades. Also genre blending bands welcome.
